Race for Grief 2021
Memorial Day | Monday, May 31, 2021
All those who have lost someone (a husband, wife, parent, child, friend, sister, brother, grandparent, had a miscarriage etc..) are welcome to attend in the memory of their loved one. When you have lost someone, you never forget them. This is a day to honor their memory and come together to celebrate their life no matter how long. Come join us on Memorial Day from near or far.
We will have an in-person and virtual option in 2021.

This annual event is held to honor the memory of our loved ones and offers an in-person (attending) or virtual (not attending) options. There are 10K & 5K run, or 2 mile walk event distances to choose from.
* Please understand this is a non-competitive event and will not be timed. There will be no official results, finish medals or awards but we will be giving out random prizes (including virtual entry for mail out). We will be following covid restrictions for the in-person 2021 event. Participants can pick up shirts and bib numbers at the race venue (West Bountiful Park) starting at 8 a.m. The event start time is 9 a.m. and participants will be spaced out as they feel comfortable. Masks will need to be worn while at the race venue but can be removed at participate discretion on course while running. Please maintain a minimum 6 feet spacing. As in years past we encourage you to make a poster about your loved one to display at the event.
Prize Drawing Entry:
All participants (in-person or virtual) will automatically have one entry in the prize drawing just for registering. All participants are encouraged to take pictures while doing the event on Memorial Day and post them to social media. Tag the event pages (Instagram @RaceForGriefUtah, Facebook @RaceForGrief) for a chance to be featured and earn extra entries into the prize drawing. Please include the hashtag #RaceForGrief2021 or #BlondeRunnerEvents so we can find your posts. All posts must be up by Wednesday at midnight a few days after the event to be eligible.
Also, we would love you to pin a paper with the name of the loved one you are honoring to take with you when you run.
If you have purchased a training program and/or additional running hat or visor, when you registered, you will be contacted.

Why? Learn the story…
Many years ago I lost a little baby girl named Samantha. She lived only 5 hours. I know firsthand how difficult a loss can be. So I created the Race For Grief event to honor her, bring community members together, and help others through the life-long grieving process.

What do participants have to say?
“It’s nice to be around so many people who understand at the same time. Those 6 miles have come to mean more than any of the other thousands I have run. Lora, thank you again for sharing your story and creating this race!”
“This is exactly what the run did for me last year. Harlow was stillborn in April & the race was in June. I only had about 6 weeks to train, but it helped me work on me…It gave me a healthy outlet…It gave me something else to focus on…and it was my therapy.”
